Harvest Porto

Harvest in Douro just two hours away from Porto

Take note: September is harvest month in the Douro, one of the oldest wine regions in the world, just a two-hour drive from Porto. An extra motivation to plan your meeting or event in our city at that time.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Alto Douro Wine Region is a magical place that leaves no-one indifferent and you certainly won’t regret discovering the origin of the acclaimed Port wine and taking part in the harvest with the local people.

Harvest Porto

In parallel with organising your meeting or event, Meet Porto can also help you prepare an activity in the Douro and give your event participants an unforgettable experience in one of the country’s oldest traditions, just a short drive away.

Here’s what you can expect from the grape harvest: your group will join the farm labourers in a celebration with lots of traditional singing. In this festive atmosphere, they will first pick the grapes and then, in a cellar, they will crush them with their feet.

The result of this activity is called must, which will later give rise to wine. The must is transferred to the cellars where the wine fermentation process begins until it is stored in wooden barrels.

After this experience, you and your guests will know from start to finish how Port wine is produced until it reaches your glasses.

We look forward to seeing you in September for your meeting or event in Porto and to enjoy this fantastic adventure in the Douro.
