Nine Portuguese vineyards among the 100 best in the world 

The 100 best vineyards of 2023 worldwide are already known and Portugal is the 4th country with the highest number of distinctions at the World’s Best Vineyards, awards given by the
media group William Reed.

 

You should know that the Portuguese appreciate good wine but that’s not all: we’re good at drinking wine but we’re even better at producing it. The Porto and Douro region takes this centuries old tradition very seriously: generations after generations follow history and transform our grapes into a nectar that is acclaimed all over the world.
 

 

Here is the list of the nine Portuguese wineries in the world top 100, which also includes two distinctions in the Demarcated Region of Vinho Verde and one in Alentejo:

15th: Quinta do Crasto (Douro)
16th: Quinta do Noval (Douro)
40th: Graham’s Porto Lodge (Douro)
42nd: Quinta do Seixo (Douro)
55th: Quinta da Pacheca (Douro)
64th: Soalheiro (Vinho Verde)
66th: Quinta do Infantado (Douro)
78th: Quinta da Aveleda (Vinho Verde)
85th: Herdade do Esporão (Alentejo)

Four of the nine Portuguese wine producers recognized in the 2023 edition of the World’s Best Vineyards are in the top 50. These results place Portugal in 4th place worldwide and 2nd in Europe, ahead of two of its biggest competitors: Italy and Spain. 

Europe is the undisputed leader of the World’s Best Vineyards 2023

By continent, Europe is the absolute leader of the World’s Best Vineyards 2023, with more than half of the total choices (52), followed by the Americas (30) and Oceania (8).

Four of the nine Portuguese wine producers recognized in the 2023 edition of the World’s Best Vineyards are in the top 50. These results place Portugal in 4th place worldwide and 2nd in Europe, ahead of two of its biggest competitors: Italy and Spain. he south of the continent, which includes the countries that achieved the highest number of nominations: France (17), Portugal (9), Italy (7) and Spain (6).

Outside Europe, only Argentina (11) and Chile (10) achieved a high number of distinguished wineries in the World’s Best Vineyards 2023.
